RPS has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer – Quality Control to join our Asset Inspections Business. This is a key role and it will help support, deliver, and build upon our existing frameworks and relationships with utility companies across Scotland.
About You:
As a key member of the Asset Inspections business, your role as Project Engineer – Quality Control is critical to helping us deliver great projects for our Water Industry clients. You will be working alongside a multi-disciplinary team of water project experts on a range of capital delivery projects.
You will primarily focus on the quality control and quality assurance of our Water and Wastewater Projects, ensuring that all our works adhere to industry standards and the client\’s guidance documents. Your role will involve supporting both pre and post-inspection phases, thorough documentation of findings, and the implementation of best practices to maintain the highest levels of quality and unity across all our projects. You will work closely with our project team members and clients to identify and address any issues promptly while supporting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in delivery.

Your Responsibilities:
- Support our asset inspection programme, ensuring thorough review and accurate reporting of our works.
- Oversee the quality control process, ensuring that all work adheres to the relevant standards and meets or exceeds client expectations.
- Ensure compliance with the client\’s guidance documents and industry standards, implementing best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain detailed and organized documentation of all inspections and lessons learned, ensuring transparency and traceability.
- Support a team of professionals undertaking asset inspections, providing guidance and training to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
- Interact with our clients regarding quality control and compliance issues, building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in asset inspection methods and quality control processes.
- Attend site as and when required to support the Asset Inspections Framework.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Experience in the water industry, with a strong background in asset inspections, quality control, and compliance.
- A keen eye for detail ensures that all inspections and quality control processes are conducted and concluded accurately.
- Ideally based in the central belt,
- Experience and awareness of managing work in high-risk environments such as confined spaces and highways.
- Experience in modern methods of inspections such as utilizing unmanned aerial vehicles, LIDAR, etc., and familiarity with GIS
- Experience being part of integrated/blended/diverse/multidisciplinary teams in delivering complex project outputs and programme outcomes.
- A good communicator who listens and questions effectively, concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Strive to exceed client aspirations and are goal-driven.
- You will have proven experience managing performance and be able to implement change.
- Proficient in the use of the MS Office suite, work management systems, and applications are essential.
- Demonstrable track record of reliability and flexibility
Qualifications:
- A degree qualified in a relevant subject is desirable although significant previous experience will be considered.
- A full UK driving license is also essential.
