Background

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our successful Public Sector team in an exciting and innovative role. You will work across our Public Sector Financial Reporting and our Financial Reporting and Accounting Support teams.

Our Public Sector Financial Reporting team provides training, guidance, technical assistance, and quality assurance to support the UK\’s largest public sector external audit practice, ensuring high-quality audits that provide assurance and add value to public sector organizations.

Our Public Sector Financial Reporting and Accounting Support service offers direct support to non-audit finance teams facing challenges related to technical accounting, financial reporting, and broader finance functions, especially under increased regulatory and accounting changes.

This role allows you to utilize your financial reporting and accounting knowledge to support audit teams and public sector organizations directly.

A look into the role

The manager role involves supporting the quality of audits and helping clients with major challenges.

FR Responsibilities:

  • Review draft public sector financial statements and manage risk
  • Respond to complex financial reporting queries
  • Draft internal guidance and training materials
  • Present at internal and external events
  • Contribute to technical consultations and stay current with debates
  • Build strong relationships with audit teams
  • Collaborate with Financial Reporting and Audit Quality teams

FRAS Responsibilities:

  • Manage non-audit clients
  • Solve complex technical issues with clients
  • Take on team responsibilities and develop team members
  • Maintain strong client relationships
  • Push business and personal development

Knowing you’re right for us

Minimum criteria include:

  • Professional Accounting qualification (CIPFA, ACA, ICAS, CA, or ACCA)
  • Post-qualification experience in external audit for Local Authorities/Health bodies or within a Local Government/Health finance function
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS standards and public sector financial reporting
  • Project management experience
  • Business development experience is a plus
