Grant Thornton’s Financial Services Tax team provides tax advisory, transactions, and compliance services to clients in the Financial Services market across Wealth and Asset Management, Banking, Capital Markets, and Insurance sectors.

Our Wealth and Asset Management team is one of the fastest-growing areas of Grant Thornton’s Financial Services Tax practice. We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, and enthusiastic Associate Director with a strong UK corporation tax and transactions background to work within this team in London.

The team’s client portfolio spans traditional asset managers, financial services institutions, alternative funds asset managers across all asset classes including private equity, private credit, venture capital, hedge funds, real estate, and infrastructure, wealth managers, UK pension funds, and global institutional investors. We combine technical expertise with a commercial approach to build strong trusted adviser relationships with our clients.

The wealth and asset management industry is dynamic, technically demanding, and global. This role offers opportunities to work on domestic and international structuring, transactions, and UK tax compliance and advisory matters, in addition to collaborating with the wider Grant Thornton International network and the national tax practice, which offers specialised services such as innovation tax, employment taxes, VAT, and real estate to support clients\’ growth journeys.

Part of the role involves working alongside the partner group to build out the practice and develop strong client relationships within the current and target client base. We value an agile approach to working with different projects and people.

A look into the role

As an Associate Director, you will:

  • Take ownership of providing highly technical tax advice to UK and multinational asset managers and the funds they manage, including transaction and tax structuring support
  • Lead and manage UK and international corporate tax advisory projects, post-transaction support, and compliance obligations
  • Manage the preparation of tax provisions and ensure tax reporting obligations and deadlines are met
  • Develop and lead your own diverse client portfolio, ensuring high client service levels
  • Work closely with colleagues across Grant Thornton’s tax practice, financial services industry, and international network to identify opportunities
  • Contribute to business development by managing existing relationships and pitching to new clients
  • Train and develop junior team members through bespoke training sessions
  • Adhere to the firm’s risk management and quality procedures

Preferred skills include strong tax technical expertise, experience in corporate tax compliance, project leadership, and familiarity with relevant software.
