This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and innovative professional to take a leading role in shaping high-quality, future-focused learning experiences for our students. The role involves developing students’ employment skills aligned with vocational and academic pathways, with a strong emphasis on meeting local industry needs.

You will be responsible for creating and sustaining outstanding educational provision, ensuring that learning is engaging, innovative, and of the highest standard. A key aspect of the role will be the ongoing monitoring, evaluation, and enhancement of curriculum delivery to maximise student achievement and support the organisation in meeting its strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support a team of teachers to deliver high quality teaching and learning, with an ethos of high expectations of student achievement which results in high achievement.
  • Direct and support a team of learning support staff to deliver high quality support for learners to promote equality of opportunity.
  • Support the Director in the co-ordination of tutorial delivery across the organisation.
  • Take ownership and responsibility for the performance of the area including student outcomes, experience, safety, and the quality of teaching.
  • Implement the College’s teaching, learning, and assessment strategy to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Lead on the performance management of staff members, including providing ongoing feedback and ensuring timely completion of induction, probationary reviews, and performance development reviews according to College policies.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of curriculum developments, courses, qualifications, and funding, and contribute to the continuous development of a curriculum that meets local individual and business needs, including non-funded commercial activities.
  • With the Director, plan the curriculum, including qualifications, schemes of work, and teaching hours for the courses in the subject area.
  • Thoroughly monitor student and subject area performance using data such as achievement rates, value-added measures, and student destinations, and continuously evaluate performance.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students, especially those under 18 and vulnerable groups, within the curriculum.

Qualifications and Training

  • Vocational/academic qualification related to the learning area.
  • A recognised teaching qualification.
  • A recognised management qualification (Desirable).

Skills and Expertise

  • Relevant experience and curriculum knowledge of Maths.
  • Understanding of programmes within the learning area.
  • Knowledge and experience of the Ofsted inspection process.
  • An inspirational and motivational leader capable of effectively communicating the vision and ethos of the learning area.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm to promote a positive College image to the community and stakeholders.
