At KPMG, we are passionate about making a difference. We\’re looking for people with an entrepreneurial spirit and the motivation to create success with others. Working alongside 16,000 of the brightest minds in the business, you will be part of our market leading Infrastructure Advisory Group. Our values – Integrity, Excellence, For Better, Courage and Together – are at the heart of everything we do.\”KPMG is truly a place where you can make an extraordinary difference, without having to be anything, but yourself.
\”PACE\” (Programme Advisory and Capital Excellence) is part of KPMG\’s Major Projects Advisory team – a multi-disciplinary team of cross-sector experts in complex project and programme delivery. We transform our clients\’ delivery capability and partner with them to deliver faster, cheaper, greener, and better. As a recognised market leader, we are proud to partner with an impressive client base across both private and public sectors, delivering lasting results in several market sectors, namely:
- Government
- Healthcare
- Defence
- Water
- Energy
- Transport
- Financial Services
We are looking for high performing individuals with relevant experience in project and programme management and controls who seek an exciting long-term career in our team. Your experience to date could be from within any of our target sectors above. And, although we are primarily focussed on these sectors within the UK, we also recognise the opportunity of experience and insights from other countries and regions, especially the Middle East.
Ideally, your delivery experience would be gained from Infrastructure-related Projects and Programmes, but we\’ll happily consider candidates with experience in other field relevant to our work.
Our fast-paced environment will excite, challenge, and reward you. While the pace is high, you\’ll have the support that comes from being part of our inclusive, diverse, and collaborative team, to help you thrive. We\’ll empower you to feed your curiosity, work with some of the best on emerging practices and technologies and grow in your own way – bringing your whole self to everything you do with us.\”
\”
About the Role
\”
The things we do are wide-ranging and require plenty of entrepreneurial ability and intellectual curiosity.
Assistant Managers in our team are instrumental to delivery, and this role requires some management consulting experience – ideally gained from Infrastructure-related Projects and Programmes, but we\’ll happily consider candidates with experience in other relevant fields (such as Government and other large Owner/Operators).
As part of a team of consultants on the ground, you\’ll be applying your experience every day, bringing to life tailored solutions for our clients whilst managing important relationships.
It\’s a demanding job, but you\’ll be well supported by the rest of us.
Specifically, your day-to-day involves:
- Being part of high-performing, multi-disciplinary consulting teams
- Supporting and managing the delivery of client-facing work within specialist areas, ensuring new processes and tools are designed with a strong human/end user focus – this includes producing high-quality outputs with thorough attention to detail
- Helping engagement managers to look after financial aspects of an engagement
- Keeping up to date with specific (technical) developments affecting your work, contributing to thought leadership
- Understanding the broader suite of services offered by KPMG and sharing ideas to collaborate and design unique solutions for our clients
- Fostering an inclusive, diverse and flexible environment where everyone can thrive
- Business development – assisting with bids
- Coaching and mentoring your colleagues – both up and down
- Most importantly, being a role model for KPMG and living our values every day
About the sort people we\’re looking for
There is no one-size fits all in MPA; we\’re as diverse as the world around us. We hand pick our people because they\’re our most important asset – and people pick us because we really mean that.
For this opportunity, we\’re looking for candidates with between three and five years\’ experience – primarily built around the development and delivery of major Projects/Programmes. This could be as a consultant/advisor or working in Industry/Government.
Your track record should evidence:
- Experience of applying Project, Programme and/or Portfolio management – and a passion for the discipline
- Some experience in any of our key sectors
- A foundation of excellent academics and good career progression to date
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- An ability to build and maintain great relationships and a desire to network across our firm
- Confident communication and presentation skills
- A good spread of experience using different software/applications (e.g. Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Oracle P6, Slack, Clarizen)
- Relevant professional certification – e.g. APM PMQ/PPQ; MoP; MSP; PRINCE2
Experience in one of the following areas would also help you stand out – but it\’s not essential:
- Supporting targeted business process improvement(s) in relation to capital investment Portfolios and major Projects/Programmes
- Supporting the delivery of advisory services such as organisational design and governance optimisation
- Working in partnership with clients to shape strategic direction and helping them to go out and implement
- Performance and efficiency improvement
- Enhancing Project and Programme controls
- Assurance and monitoring
- Troubled Project/Programme reviews
A final word from us…
\”
Everybody likes to say they\’re different… but we really think we are.
We\’re hugely proud of what we\’ve managed to achieve so far, but we\’re only just getting started. We\’re looking for people to grow with us and are committed to helping everybody reach their destination, regardless of what that is.\”\”\”
Rapid career progression means that if you show up and you\’re ready to step up – you\’ll be promoted. Because we recognise talent, not just tenure.
And with all the support, training, and development you need, the sky really is the limit.
Should you choose to join us, you can expect an attractive benefits package, which typically includes:
Financial
- A competitive salary
- Pension options
- Bonus scheme that reflects firm and individual performance
- Rail and Oyster Card reimbursement
- Staff discounts
- Access to preferential banking

- 25 days holiday, with the option to buy up to an extra 10 days, plus an additional day of leave for your birthday
- Competitive maternity and paternity leave

- Group Income Protection
No matter what skills you bring to our team, you\’ll be surrounded by spirited, naturally curious people. People who want to learn from you, and who\’ll also teach you a thing or two along the way. It\’s how we make a collective impact, greater than the sum of its parts.\”
And if this isn\’t the role for you but you like what you see, keep in touch. There will be other opportunities to join us.
