Job Description
Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit!Join our Simulation and Assessment team and contribute to the delivery of essential projects within the nuclear sector. In this role, you’ll apply your expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to perform detailed assessments of nuclear components, ensuring compliance with design codes such as ASME III and RCC-M. You’ll be involved in project planning, delivery, and reporting, and will communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders, including client technical leads. This role offers the opportunity to work both within client teams and from our Assystem offices, providing a variety of project experiences.
Your mission:
- Desire to learn: Working with our experienced team you will be supported in developing skills and competencies on a range of projects and customers.
- Technical aptitude: You will be responsible for planning, undertaking and reporting simulation and assessment projects using a range of tools, for example ANSYS or Abaqus FEA software, and calculations using MathCAD.
- Digital first: Familiarity with typical engineering and data management software such as document control, Product Lifecycle Management, MS Office, TEAMS etc.
- Collaborative: Working as part of a team you will be required to collaborate and communicate as part of a team, and be comfortable to work independently where appropriate.
- Delivery focused: Driven to achieve milestones and produce high quality outputs to time and cost budgets.
- Commercially aware: Understanding of the commercial context of project delivery including achieving milestones, management of requirements compliance, change and technical risk.
- ️ Organised & Communicative: Able to organise and plan effectively, and excellent communication skills.
- Report writing: Ability to write high-quality, clear, concise and accurate technical reports.

- Excellent technical fundamentals – aptitude for calculations, appreciation of structures, mechanics and fluids, an ability to ‘sense-check’ analysis results.
- ️ Hands-on experience of computer based modelling codes such as Abaqus, Ansys, Nastran, CFD etc.
- Appreciation of code assessments in a safety related industry, for example ASME, RCC-M, KTA or comparable codes from other sectors.
- Engineering Degree (or equivalent).
- Full UK driving license and ability to travel within the UK.
- ️ Previous experience in similar roles in the nuclear or fusion industry.
- Hands-on experience of 3D modelling in CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, Catia or SolidWorks.
- Experience of fluid-modelling such as CFD, or dynamic modelling such as LS-Dyna or Radioss.
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status.

Additional Requirements:
