What will you be doing?

We are looking for an experienced, safety focused Field Engineer to join our Engineering team and oversee mechanical and civil engineering projects across COMAH-regulated terminals and sites. You will play a key role in driving high standards, safety, and efficiency on critical infrastructure works.

You will undertake the on-site supervision of projects, studies and engineering work on oil and gas projects and associated facilities. This includes liaising with project teams and clients, travelling across multiple sites across the length of our pipeline, including regular nights away from home.

The ideal candidate would be located within 20 miles of Northampton, however anyone in the stretch from Hemel Hempstead to Birmingham would be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee site-based mechanical and civil construction projects on behalf of BPA and its clients.
  • Ensure work is delivered to company, client, and industry standards, with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance.
  • Act as the main on-site liaison between contractors, clients, site owners, and BPA project teams.
  • Supervise day-to-day construction activities, ensuring quality, safety, cost, and programme targets are met.
  • Lead project delivery from mobilisation through commissioning and handover.
  • Maintain accurate site records and assist in contractor negotiations where needed.
  • Manage contractor performance and coordinate discipline-specific engineering staff.
  • Contribute to project planning and risk assessments, issuing site instructions where required.

What You’ll Need

  • Proven experience supervising construction works in mechanical and/or civil engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of site safety practices, HSEQ policies, and construction standards.
  • HNC in Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Comfortable liaising with contractors, clients, and site operators at various levels.
  • IT-literate, well-organised, and confident managing multiple workstreams.
  • Clean, valid UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to obtain a NEBOSH Construction Certificate within 18 month

Desirable

  • Experience within high-hazard regulated industries.
  • Previous responsibility for supervising agency or multi-disciplinary teams.

Salary: £42,000 – £47,000 + Company car or Car cash allowance + benefits
