Engineering Manager
Location: Edinburgh
Salary: £39,000
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager or a strong Engineering Supervisor looking to step into a management role. This position involves leading the maintenance and facilities function in a unique, fast-paced visitor attraction setting.
The role is approximately 75% leadership and planning, with 25% hands-on technical work. You\’ll oversee a small, skilled team and ensure smooth, safe operation of a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and specialist systems.
Key Responsibilities for the Engineering Manager:
- Leadership & Planning
- Allocate daily workloads and manage priorities across the team
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff including apprentices
- Manage and coordinate external contractors
- Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with all health and safety regulations
- Conduct and maintain accurate and up-to-date risk assessments
- Maintenance Planning
- Use CMMS system to schedule and manage preventative maintenance
- Lead or support response to urgent breakdowns or system faults
- Facilities & Systems Oversight
- Maintain and monitor building systems such as HVAC, emergency lighting, pumps, and generators
- Oversee sound, lighting, and projection equipment
- Support the operation of mechanical ride systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, and motor-driven components
Ideal Candidate Profile for the Engineering Manager:
- Strong technical foundation in electrical or mechanical engineering
- Experience in facilities, building services, industrial settings, or forces background
- Experience in live environments (e.g. theatres, hotels, leisure venues) is beneficial
