Introduction to role
The Portfolio Programme Integration and Interface Manager is responsible for ensuring that all programmes and projects within Heathrow’s capital delivery portfolio are effectively aligned, integrated, and proactively managed at points of interface. The role supports early identification and resolution of interdependencies, sequencing risks, and conflicts, with a focus on maintaining delivery coherence across time, cost, scope, and resource dimensions.
Role Responsibilities
This position combines expertise in strategic programme integration with senior-level project planning acumen and in-depth understanding of operationally sensitive airport environments.
- Lead the development and implementation of a portfolio-wide integration and interface management framework, including governance, tools, and processes.
- Identify, map, and manage cross-programme and cross-project interfaces, dependencies, and constraints, including those with operational and third-party systems.
- Maintain a dynamic interface register, dashboard, tracking ownership, risk status, and resolution strategies across programmes.
- Collaborate with planning and project controls teams to build and maintain integrated programme and portfolio schedules, ensuring logic alignment, milestone synchronisation, and critical path visibility.
- Coordinate and chair interface alignment meetings, focusing on design, construction, operational readiness, and third-party interfaces (e.g. airlines, suppliers and other contractors).
- Conduct impact assessments, scenario planning, and schedule health reviews to manage interface risks.
- Ensure planning and integration activities fully consider live operational environments, including airside access, safety, baggage system continuity, and passenger experience.
- Support resolution of cross-programme issues affecting resources, systems, or operations.
- Act as a central point of contact for all interface-related planning and scheduling coordination across the portfolio.
Role Qualifications & Skills
- Significant experience (typically 7+ years) in senior programme planning and/or interface management within major infrastructure or capital delivery environments, ideally in aviation
- Deep understanding of airport operations, including baggage systems, terminal processes, airside logistics, and operational readiness
- Demonstrable experience managing interfaces between capital projects and live airport environments, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
- Strong experience in developing and managing integrated master schedules across multi-programme portfolios using tools like Primavera P6
- Proficiency in managing schedule dependencies, float, critical paths, and integrated milestone tracking
- In-depth knowledge of project, programme, and portfolio management (P3M) principles
- Excellent stakeholder management and facilitation skills, with a proven ability to influence across functions and external partners
- Experience working in or with regulated environments (e.g. CAA, DfT, ORR).
- Familiarity with systems engineering, interface control documentation, and operational readiness processes (e.g. ORAT)
- Experience working with NEC contract schedules and planning requirements.
- Knowledge of other major airport infrastructure systems (e.g. MEP, security screening, IT, control systems)
- Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications such as APM PMQ/PPQ, PMP,
- Advanced Primavera P6 user certification
