In order to maximise the opportunities for medical research which have been opened up through the creation of a new medical school, PCSM has established a Research Hub to promote and facilitate health research between the Institute of Health at UoC, Imperial College and the NHS Trusts and organisations across Cumbria. The Research Hub is co-directed by Prof Sophie Day and Prof Jonathan Weber.
We are looking for a manager for our new research hub, based at our Carlisle Fusehill Street campus. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new and dynamic team operating within our new medical school and across the two universities. The Hub aims to grow the research offer of the University of Cumbria, embrace research opportunities with Principal Investigators (PIs) at Imperial College and generate new collaborations with the NHS in Cumbria.
The Hub manager will be based in the Institute of Health at UoC, but will work closely with colleagues from Research & Knowledge Exchange and seek research collaborative opportunities University wide and with the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial. A key part of the role will be to establish relationships and develop partnerships with North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Trust, University Hospitals Morecambe Bay NHS Trust, other research-active NHS organisations in Cumbria and with other local HEIs including Lancaster, Newcastle, Edgehill and UCLan. The role will act as first point of contact for the Hub and will take responsibility for the establishment and day-to-day running of the Hub, including financial management, diary management, organisation and running of Research Hub meetings, groups and events, together with supporting the creation of a PCSM research project competition, managing the promotion, project paperwork, selection and award of successful projects.
