Are you looking for a finance business partnering role where you can help deliver new home schemes and shape the financial plans for the Housing & HRA (Housing Revenue Account) service?
If so, we are recruiting a Finance Business Partner who will report to the Head of Business Partnering for this area. The role is responsible for managing the Housing & HRA finance business partnering team and supporting the Housing and HRA service with financial planning, including monitoring and supporting key transformation programmes such as new build schemes.
You will join the Council at an exciting time as it continues its improvement journey, having exited intervention in March 2024 after a two-year period. We have been shortlisted in the ‘Most Improved Council’ category at the June 2025 Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Awards. In January 2024, the Local Government Minister praised Sandwell Council’s “significant improvements” and a “step change in governance and organization”.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with experience in finance business partnering and knowledge of the Housing Revenue Account (HRA).
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to strengthen existing relationships with senior managers within the Place directorate, especially supporting Housing & HRA, providing financial advice and support, including budget planning, monitoring, and account closure. The Council is committed to high standards across the Finance function and to staff training and development.
