Our client is looking for a Major Projects Delivery Lead to join their team. In this strategic, high-impact role, you\’ll take full ownership of major construction projects from initial tender through to contract delivery, driving commercial success. This role is a succession role, with the current person taking a step back from the business – they are big shoes to fill, so this is a role for someone with gravitas, experience and a good understanding of developing major projects.

About the Role

You will be the key figure responsible for securing, negotiating, and delivering complex material supply contracts on large-scale infrastructure and construction projects. From building early relationships with specifiers and designers to managing contract execution and ensuring financial and operational alignment, this role spans the entire project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of major projects, from tendering and bid preparation through to execution and close-out.
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies achieving being supplier of choice.
  • Build early engagement with specifiers, designers, and contractors to influence project outcomes and secure material supply.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and MDs to ensure project commitments are achievable and aligned with business capabilities.
  • Produce and lead compelling bids for major contracts, ensuring competitive positioning and high win rates.
  • Manage contract terms and negotiations (NEC, JCT, FIDIC, bespoke), ensuring compliance and risk management across legal, financial, and operational domains.
  • Oversee budget planning, forecasting, cost control, and cash flow throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide leadership in managing contract claims, variations, and dispute resolution processes.
  • Foster and maintain a strategic network of key clients, contractors, and consultants.

About You:

  • Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction Materials.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end project management in major infrastructure or construction contracts.
  • Proven experience managing supply contracts within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and excellent negotiation skills.
  • Deep knowledge of construction materials and low-carbon product specifications.
  • SHE leadership and commitment to creating a strong safety culture.
  • Experience in bid assessment and negotiation for Tier 1 / Tier 2 contractors.
  • Familiarity with NEC3/4 contract administration and delivery.
  • Financial project modelling and optimisation experience.
  • Effective marketing and presentation skills.
  • A strong network of industry contacts across clients, contractors, and specifiers.
