Senior High-Speed Digital Electronics Design Engineer

Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior High-Speed Digital Electronics Engineer to join the GCAP development team at Leonardo, based in either Edinburgh or Newcastle. GCAP is an exciting project designing a new radar sensor. You will work within a multidisciplinary team across the full engineering lifecycle, from requirements capture to delivery. This is a great opportunity to join a growing team at a pivotal time for the GCAP program.

Responsibilities:

• Design high-speed digital printed circuit boards utilizing the latest FPGA, microprocessor, and high-speed interconnect technologies.
• Support the hardware lifecycle from requirements analysis, design, and testing to integration, acceptance, and delivery.
• Document work products, manage configuration, and provide progress reports.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to solve complex system integration problems.

Requirements:

• Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or related science (Physics, etc.).
• Experience analyzing system requirements and applying them to hardware design.
• Experience with schematic capture.
• Design experience with high-speed serial communication links and protocols.
• Hands-on experience with hardware, firmware, and software integration of microprocessor-based designs.
• Structured approach to hardware design lifecycle.
• Experience in debugging, testing, and verifying new designs, and supporting system integration.
• Ability to liaise with component suppliers.
• Effective communication skills across disciplines.
• Ability to work independently and in teams to resolve technical issues.
• Good time management skills to meet project deadlines.
