Job Description
The Revenue Accounting team plays a critical role within the Finance department, ensuring accurate and compliant revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606. The Revenue Accountant will manage the operational and technical aspects of revenue recognition, including contract review, revenue allocations, maintenance of revenue schedules, and supporting monthly and quarterly closes. The role aims to build scalable processes as the business grows globally. Key internal customers include the FP&A team, Commercial Finance, Sales Ops, Legal, AR, and External Auditors. The Senior Revenue Accountant works cross-functionally with Deal Desk, Order Management, and Sales, serving as a subject matter expert on revenue-related matters and guiding appropriate treatment for complex deals and contract terms. The role contributes to team OKRs around timely month-end close, contract review turnaround, ASC 606 compliance, internal controls, and system/process enhancements across the revenue cycle. The ideal candidate brings solid accounting experience, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Assist in monthly revenue accounting close activities by preparing journal entries and performing key account reconciliations related to revenue, deferred revenue, and unbilled receivables.
- Assist with revenue reporting and analysis by monitoring customer usage.
- Review standard and non-standard contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition under U.S. GAAP in line with ASC 606.
- Assist in the order-to-cash process by reviewing submitted sales orders to ensure proper revenue recognition and compliance.
- Manage and maintain NetSuite ARM to ensure accurate and compliant revenue recognition under ASC 606, including data validation and reconciliation processes.
- Collaborate across the organization to drive automation efforts and streamline accounting operations related to revenue.
- Work with sales, customer success, revenue operations, and FP&A to obtain data and reporting for monthly revenue entries.
- Develop, maintain, and improve internal process documentation for clarity and efficiency across teams.
- Perform special technical projects, analyses, and ad hoc reporting as needed.
- Play a key role in company financial audits, preparing and reviewing revenue-related schedules for external auditors.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or ACCA/CIMA qualification or progress toward certification strongly preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in SaaS revenue accounting with a focus on ASC 606 (desirable but not essential).
- Proficiency with ERP and revenue tools (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce, CPQ).
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to support both strategic and hands-on work.
