An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Fleet Delivery team as a Maintenance Controller. Based in Manchester ROC, you will use your extensive experience of rolling stock maintenance and repair to guide colleagues through in-service fault finding and defect resolution, helping to keep trains running safely and on time.
All of our fleets are maintained by expert third-party rolling stock organisations. You will be a key link between our maintenance partner teams and TPE control and fleet teams, making decisions to ensure planned and unplanned maintenance takes place. You will be supported by a headquarters organisation that has a wealth of experience in fleet management and engineering.
Around a third of your shifts will be spent out on the TPE network as a Technical Inspector, attending faults and failed trains in service, undertaking testing, repairs and recovery where necessary.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has extensive experience as a rolling stock technician, especially fault finding.
- Is confident working in a high-pressure, time-sensitive control room environment, making decisions as technical expert on the TransPennine Express fleets.
- Can communicate confidently with a range of people in safety critical situations and keep an accurate record of situations and decisions.
- Has an eye for the ‘forward plan\’, and an understanding of how to manage a fleet of trains in the railway operational environment.
- Is articulate and able to engage effectively with frontline colleagues and senior managers.
- Is proficient in the use of MS Office products.
- Desirable – Personal Track Safety and Designated Person trained, previous use of defect management software.
The role will involve some night shift working and will require you to travel across the TPE network whilst undertaking Technical Inspector shifts.
