Roxel is an Anglo-French company that designs, develops, and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France, with an annual turnover of about £150M and nearly 1000 staff. The UK operations are based at Summerfield, Kidderminster.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Maintenance & Calibration Manager, you will provide first-class, flexible support to production requirements and factory services by applying electrical and control/PLC skills in fault-finding, diagnostics, planned preventative maintenance, and electrical installation.
Responsibilities
- Comply with SHE and all statutory Safety, Health, and Environment requirements.
- Ensure the reliability of onsite Programmable Logic Control Systems.
- Accurately log maintenance engineering downtime, monitor repair times, and develop new methods/procedures to reduce these using our CMMS.
- Work as part of the maintenance team to ensure safe and efficient production performance.
- Perform detailed preventive and corrective maintenance activities as per schedules.
- Diagnose and rectify faults on all plant and equipment within the manufacturing facility.
- Identify root causes of asset faults and improve asset performance and reliability to meet operational goals.
- Respond quickly and efficiently to plant breakdowns, adhering to all company procedures and standards.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Recognised electrical qualifications.
- Experience working with PLCs (Siemens S7, S5, Mitsubishi, ABB, Eurotherm).
- Strong PLC programming and interrogation skills.
- High standards of electrical and mechanical understanding and competencies as a maintenance engineer.
- Ability to diagnose failure root causes in reactive maintenance and implement corrective actions.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and CMMS.
Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge of health and safety processes.
- Understanding of Quality Operating Systems procedures.
- Knowledge of environmental controls and practices.
- 18th Edition BS7671 certification and 2391/52 inspection and testing qualifications.
