About The Role
Definition:
The principal role of the Project Manager/Technical Bid Lead is providing expert civil engineering support to the estimating and proposals teams, working closely with designers, estimators, and supply chain partners. You will play a vital role in developing design and build tenders, assessing technical risks and opportunities, and crafting clear, compelling submissions for our clients.
More specifically, the duties and responsibilities of the Project Manager/Technical Bid Lead are as follows:
Responsibilities:
- Lead technical input into design and build tenders, working with civil consultants to manage and coordinate tender deliverables.
- Drive technical excellence in written bid responses, with a focus on producing narratives that demonstrate a clear understanding of clientβs requirements.
- Analyse tender documents to identify any potential opportunities for gaining a competitive edge.
- Provide optioneering support, collaborating with civil estimators, delivery teams, and supply chain partners to develop cost-effective, buildable solutions.
- Ensure effective coordination between civil and MEICA elements, including pricing interfaces and design impacts.
- Guiding MEICA designers from a civils perspective on the commercial impacts of their tender design on associated civil works.
- Preparing draft construction programmes in line with client requirements. Optimising the programme to ensure efficient delivery of the works, minimising indirect costs.
- Advise on resource planning, supporting estimators with staffing and time allocation decisions, gangs and productivity outputs, based on programme demands.
- Assist with preparation of traffic management plans and develop traffic-related narratives for tender submissions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the tendering department.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, innovation in the construction industry. Actively engage in CPD to maintain and enhance technical expertise.
- Stay up to date with HSQE management systems within the organisation.
About You
Requirements:
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related construction discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Extensive site-based experience, with a strong understanding of construction processes.
- At least 5 years in a senior site management role, with exposure to complex civil engineering projects.
- Excellent technical writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly.
- Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities and meet fixed deadlines.
- Full clean Irish/UK/EU Driving Licence
- Authorised to work in Ireland i.e. Currently hold a valid Work Permit or a Stamp 4 visa
