About the Role:


They are seeking an experienced Law Costs Draftsperson/Draftsman to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to play a key role in a growing firm with offices in London, Manchester, and Birmingham. As a new member of the team, you will work on a diverse caseload to include personal injury, clinical negligence, serious injury and court ofprotection matters just to name a few, focusing primarily on drafting, with opportunities for negotiation and settlement responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Drafting bills of costs, budgets, and schedules (approximately 80% of the workload).

  • Handling negotiations and settlements on costs-related matters (approximately 20% ofthe workload).

  • Preparing schedules of costs and advising on cost recovery strategies.

  • Collaborating with fee earners and other stakeholders to ensure optimal outcomes.

  • Maintaining a high standard of accuracy and efficiency in all drafting work.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experience: Proven experience in drafting and negotiating a mixture of personal injury and clinical cost files , with a strong billing history.

  • Knowledge: Familiarity with the fixed costs regime and adaptability to ongoing changes in the industry.

  • Skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and drafting skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Mindset: A curious and engaged professional who asks questions and seeks clarity to improve outcomes.

  • Level: Junior to mid-level experience in the costs sector, with a focus on developing expertise and growing within the role.
