We have an exciting opportunity for a Pastry Chef Tutor to join the Adult Learning team on a claims basis. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £24.53 – £41.17 per hour.

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

About the role:

As the Pastry Chef Tutor, you will teach part time City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Patisserie and Confectionery both theory and practical. This course is an adult course, one evening per week.

Responsibilities as our Pastry Chef Tutor will include:

  • Delivering the City & Guilds Certificate in Patisserie and Confectionery Level 3 to part time adult learners, as agreed with the Curriculum Lead
  • Utilising virtual learning platform and provide data in line with college policies
  • Working closely with the Curriculum lead, particularly with regards to the monitoring of learner progress
  • Paying due attention to the principles of inclusive learning including; individual learning styles; support for students with learning difficulties; extension resources/activities for students of higher ability.
  • Contributing to the design, delivery and future planning and development of curriculum
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of developments and research in Patisserie and Confectionery
  • Promoting the sharing of good practice in the development of teaching methods and strategies.
  • Participating in the College\’s Lesson Observation Scheme.

As our Pastry Chef Tutor, you\’ll ideally have:

  • Level 3 Certificate/Diploma in Patisserie and Confectionery qualification or equivalent
  • Willing to study towards a teaching qualification (if applicable)
  • 3 years\’ experience working in the role of a Pastry Chef in a restaurant/Hotel/Production establishment.
  • Mentoring and supporting team members
  • Knowledge and understanding of current developments in Patisserie and Confectionery.
  • The ability to relate well to learners of all abilities and to assess learner needs.
