Role Description:
The Field Engineer will be responsible for the design, commissioning, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of wireless voice, video, and data networks. This role also requires hands-on experience in installing radio and communication equipment into vehicles, ensuring that all installations meet the necessary performance and safety standards. The position involves working directly with customers, ensuring the successful execution of field service operations, troubleshooting complex network issues, and providing technical support throughout the network lifecycle. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage projects, work independently in the field, and interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement wireless voice, video, and data networks in alignment with customer requirements and industry standards.
- Commission and deploy wireless network solutions, ensuring all systems are configured and tested to meet performance specifications.
- Install, configure, and test radio and communication equipment in vehicles, ensuring proper integration with network systems.
- Provide on-site maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical support for wireless communication networks and vehicle communication systems.
- Manage and oversee field service operations, ensuring timely delivery and quality of services.
- Collaborate with project teams to support the successful completion of network deployment projects.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments, providing recommendations for network enhancements or optimizations.
- Maintain detailed documentation of network installations, configurations, and any service modifications.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all field operations, particularly with vehicle installations.
- Provide training to customers on system usage, troubleshooting, and best practices.
- Stay updated with industry trends and technologies to continuously improve service delivery and performance.
Qualifications:
- Strong troubleshooting and technical support skills in wireless networking technologies and RF communications.
- Proven experience in the design, commissioning, deployment, and maintenance of wireless networks, particularly in radio communications.
- Experience installing and configuring radio and communication equipment in vehicles, with a solid understanding of vehicle-based installations and vehicle power systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Previous experience in field service operations with a focus on wireless networks.
- Solid project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in dynamic and fast-paced environments.
- Relevant technical certifications or qualifications (e.g., CCNA, CWNP, or similar).
- Previous experience in the communications industry or with wireless service providers is a plus.
