Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking an exceptional Scientist with a passion for immuno-oncology and hands-on expertise in CAR-T and TCR cell therapy discovery and development. This is a dynamic, lab-based role based at our Oxford site, where you will lead experimental design, execute in vitro functional assays, and collaborate cross-functionally to advance innovative cell therapies toward the clinic.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the design and optimisation of novel CAR-T constructs within a fast-paced, collaborative biotech environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and execution of in vitro functional assays to evaluate CAR-T/TCR activity, including cytotoxicity, cytokine release, and target engagement.
  • Develop, optimise, and troubleshoot protocols for CAR construct screening and primary T cell engineering.
  • Design and perform multiparameter flow cytometry experiments; analyse and interpret complex immunophenotyping data.
  • Develop and validate ELISA and Western blot assays to support functional and mechanistic studies.
  • Generate actionable insights from experimental data to guide CAR/TCR construct selection and refinement.
  • Collaborate closely with bioinformatics, translational, and cell engineering teams to integrate data and align project goals.
  • Prepare scientific presentations, technical reports, and contribute to regulatory documentation as needed.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in CAR-T/TCR research and immuno-oncology; implement innovative approaches in R&D.
  • Mentor junior scientists and foster a culture of scientific rigor, curiosity, and innovation.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or related discipline is required for Scientist level (Master’s with significant biotech experience considered for Senior RA role).
  • Hands-on expertise in CAR-T/TCR development, T cell engineering, or immune cell therapy.
  • Strong practical knowledge of multiparameter flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blot, assay development, and primary immune cell culture.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex datasets and extract meaningful biological insights.
  • Excellent scientific communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Must be able to work on-site at our Oxford facility.

Why Join Us?

  • Contribute to groundbreaking advances in next-generation cell therapy innovation.
  • Work within a mission-driven, supportive, and collaborative scientific team.
  • Opportunity to make a tangible impact on the future of immuno-oncology therapies.

If you are passionate about driving CAR-T/TCR therapy development and thrive in a fast-moving, impactful environment, and are able to work at our Oxford site, we encourage you to apply.
