Second Chef Catering and Hospitality – Caraway House Care Home Contract: Full Time Salary: £15.50 Per Hour Shift Type: Days Contracted hours: 30-40 Nestled in the beautiful seaside town of Selsey, our luxurious care home provides exceptional Residential, Nursing, Dementia and Respite care for up to 70 residents. We are looking for a talented and passionate Second Chef to join our dedicated team. This is more than just a job in the kitchen — it is an opportunity to make a genuine difference to the daily lives of our residents by creating nourishing, delicious meals that bring joy, comfort and dignity to every mealtime. What We Offer £15.50 per hour Full-time contract, 30–40 hours per week Pension, Onsite parking Paid DBS, Uniform provided 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full-time contract) What You Will Do As Second Chef, you will support the Head Chef in preparing and serving a variety of meals that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of our residents. You will contribute to menu planning, ensuring meals are well-balanced, appealing, and made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. You will help manage kitchen operations, uphold food hygiene standards, and ensure that all food is prepared in accordance with residents’ dietary requirements. You will keep accurate records, support stock management, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment. In the absence of the Head Chef, you will lead the kitchen team to ensure continuity and quality of service. What We Are Looking For City & Guilds 706 1 & 2 or equivalent qualification (achieved or working towards) Basic Food Hygiene Certificate Ability to work well in a team and on own initiative Good communication skills Strong awareness of food safety and hygiene standards Experience preparing food to meet specific dietary needs Experience in a care environment is desirable but not essential About Us Caraway House is part of Care Concern Group, a family-owned, market leading care provider with over 100 homes across the UK.
