As a Portfolio Analyst you will support teams to operate within standard processes and frameworks set out to increase transparency, reusability and alignment across D&T. Portfolio analysts will help track execution of our critical initiatives, maintain operational excellence and report against our key metrics which determine our department health.
Working as an objective, trusted partner, you will support the Portfolio Managers to evolve our ways of working at M&S. You will listen and respond to feedback provided through your Portfolio teams and surface recommendations, insight, and challenge across all areas of Product & Programme health.
To succeed in this role, the Portfolio Analyst should actively champion ways to simplify, automate and continuously improve portfolio-level reporting of product and programme health, cost management and value/benefits realisation at every opportunity. The colleague will have excellent attention to detail and organisational skills to ensure our guardrails and frameworks are adhered to with accurate, valuable, and timely inputs.

What you’ll do
Your key accountabilities will include:
- Build trusted relationships with Product Portfolio Leadership Team and provide data, reports, insight, and commentary into Product health (delivery, throughput, stability, security, costs, and value/benefits).
- Actively champion ways to simplify, automate and continuously improve portfolio-level reporting of delivery health, cost management and value/benefits realisation.
- Track progress against key achievements, approvals, managing key risks, issues & dependencies and produce Product/Portfolio performance reports. Analyse and interpret the metrics, costs, and value data to identify exceptions/ areas where action/improvement is needed and highlight these.
- Collaborate with Portfolio Leadership to agree the month end cost position, ensuring BSC Finance has conducted required purchase order, good receipts (GRs), accruals, prepayments and recharges based on relevant approvals, managing escalations appropriately.
- Engage with Portfolio Leadership to agree the latest spend forecast for each month and update the latest forecast for spend highlighting reasons for movement from previous forecasts/budgets and submitting months risk and opportunities for their Portfolio.
Who you are
Your skills and experience will include:
- Over 3 yrs experience in PMO roles across multiple products/programmes, including managing costs and delivery health.
- Excellent analytical skills including financial literacy, excel and Power BI.
- Strong communication, facilitation, co-ordination, decision making and business partner management skills.
- Experience of agile ways of working.
- Knowledge of Agile portfolio/ team tools like Jira & Confluence.
