As artificial intelligence and data-driven technologies become increasingly central to Visa’s innovation agenda, the Global Data Office (GDO) is expanding its AI and Data Governance function to ensure responsible, compliant, and effective use of these capabilities across the enterprise. The Director, AI and Data Governance, will serve as a senior leader within the Data & AI Policy team—acting as a strategic partner to the team lead and a visible internal and external expert on responsible innovation.

This role is ideal for a rare hybrid leader: someone who not only understands the complexities of AI and data policy but also brings hands-on experience in building or deploying advanced AI solutions or managing their security. The Director will help shape Visa’s global AI and data standards, guide regulatory readiness, and lead cross-functional efforts to embed governance into the design and deployment of AI systems and data use practices.

Represent the team in senior-level forums and cross-functional steering committees as needed.

Partner closely with the Global Privacy Office (GPO) and Government Engagement (GE) teams to monitor, interpret, and incorporate evolving regulatory requirements—such as the EU AI Act—into Visa’s internal AI policies and control frameworks.

Act as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to Legal, Risk, Privacy, Technology, and Business teams on AI and data policy topics.

Support Visa’s participation in industry forums, regulatory consultations, and public-private partnerships on AI and data governance.

Contribute to internal training, awareness, and capability-building efforts to embed responsible data use and AI practices across the enterprise.

Collaborate with Technology, Risk, Product and Data Science teams to ensure governance is embedded in AI development workflows by serving as Policy partner.

Support the implementation of governance controls across the AI lifecycle, including ViDA360 assessments, model risk management, and red teaming for generative AI and LLMs in partnership with other teams – GDO, Privacy, Risk MRM, Technology.

Support establishment and maintenance of risk monitoring programs, including fairness, explainability, and performance assessments, to ensure responsible AI deployment.

Engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand AI implementation challenges and opportunities and adjust the Policy guidance accordingly.
