Your role
We are seeking a knowledgeable and driven Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and technical delivery of mechanical systems in water and water recycling projects. You will ensure solutions are technically sound, efficient, sustainable, and aligned with project goals.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading mechanical design activities from feasibility to detailed design and delivery support.
- Producing and reviewing technical specifications, ensuring compliance with legislation and standards.
- Coordinating with project managers, multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and contractors.
- Supporting hazard studies, design reviews, and safety assessments like HAZOP and HAZCON.
- Driving innovation through digital design tools, offsite construction, and decarbonisation efforts.
- Providing support during construction and commissioning, resolving technical queries, and ensuring buildability.
- Offering technical leadership to junior engineers and reviewing their work.
- Sharing lessons learned and best practices for continuous improvement and governance.
What we’re looking for
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or related; Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status is desirable or in progress.
- Strong experience in mechanical design within water, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, UK design codes, CDM regulations, and safety requirements.
- Proficiency in CAD and design tools (e.g., Autodesk Plant 3D).
- A collaborative mindset and experience in multidisciplinary environments.
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical details clearly.
- A problem-solving approach focused on innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.
