As a Senior RF Design Engineer , you will play a vital rolein New Product Introduction (NPI) and Sustaining Engineering, contributing tothe design and development of innovative RF products.
You will be part of a small, dynamic team,working across the full product lifecycle from requirements and design totesting, release, and support. This is an exciting opportunity to make asignificant impact while working in a fast-paced, rewarding environment oncutting-edge RF technologies.
What YouCan Expect in This Role (Job Responsibilities)
1. RF Design
- RF system architecture design and simulation.
- Schematic capture, PCB layout, and footprint/symbol creation (using tools like Altium).
- Scoping and feasibility studies for new systems and technologies.
- Managing external design resources as needed.
- Collaborating with the Engineering Team to design and create innovative products.
2. Technical Support and Testing
- Assisting production and manufacturing teams.
- Troubleshooting hardware and system issues across the business.
- Self-testing and troubleshooting of your own designs.
- Leading and participating in design reviews.
- Verification of designs against requirement specifications.
- Mentoring junior engineers assigned to your projects.
3. Documentation and Communication
- Providing time estimates and risk assessments to project managers or team leaders.
- Contributing to weekly stand-up meetings and reporting achievements and priorities.
- Organising and leading technical projects and design reviews (Preliminary, Interim, and Critical).
- Creating and maintaining design documentation.
- Collaborating across engineering disciplines to meet departmental targets.
What We AreLooking For (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Familiarity with industry tools like PCB design and RF simulation software.
- Knowledge of the latest RF components and technologies.
- High-power wideband RF amplifiers (, GaN or LDMOS).
- RF filters, transmitters, receivers, LNAs, upconverters, and downconverters.
- Analogue and digital electronics.
- EMC considerations.
- Practical experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, analysers, and signal generators.
- Strong team player with a proactive attitude and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in an equivalent role.
- Familiarity with advanced design tools like Altium Designer, Cadence AWR Microwave Office, or Ansys HFSS.
- Experience with switch-mode PSUs, embedded circuitry, glue logic, and EMC circuitry.
- Knowledge of designing and testing to military and airborne standards (, MIL-STDs, DO-160).
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
