Shift Engineer – (Electrical) Location: Deeside – Contract: Full-time, shift-based Our client is a prominent energy generation facility in Deeside, playing a pivotal role in supporting the UK\’s energy infrastructure. The site offers a safety-focused and dynamic working environment, contributing significantly to the nation\’s energy needs. Overview As a Shift Engineer, you will be entrusted with the safe and efficient operation of the facility, ensuring compliance with site procedures and contractual obligations. This role requires independent management of operations, maintenance tasks, and support for high-voltage (HV) systems up to 400kV. Key Responsibilities Operate independently as the on-shift engineer, managing all day-to-day and emergency operations. Maintain high-voltage systems up to 400 kV and oversee LV/HV switchgear with Senior Authorised Person (SAP) duties. Diagnose faults and execute both planned and reactive maintenance-including managing isolations and issuing safety docs. Coordinate with external teams, like contractors and suppliers, to ensure smooth site activities. Support the shift roster, covering additional shifts when needed. Qualifications & Experience HNC or equivalent qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering. Strong electrical background with the potential to become HV authorised. Experience in large industrial process environments. Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and HV/LV switching. Computer literacy and strong problem-solving skills.
