Whether you\’re actively exploring your next move or simply open to the right opportunity, this could be the role that makes you stop and think. We’re working with an organisation that genuinely puts its people first, offering flexible working, a brilliant benefits package, and a collaborative, forward-thinking environment where your voice and expertise are valued. If you\’re an experienced systems professional ready to take the lead in a high-impact, well-supported role, this is your chance to step into something truly rewarding.
The Opportunity
This is a pivotal role within a high-performing IT function that supports large-scale enterprise infrastructure. As Senior Enterprise Systems Administrator, you’ll lead a small team while taking technical ownership of on-prem and cloud environments. From Exchange and AD to Azure, M365, Intune, SCCM, and server patching, you’ll be the go-to expert for all things infrastructure.
You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement, automation, and key digital transformation projects, all within a stable, well-resourced, and employee-focused environment. Occasional out-of-hours work may be required to support patching or project deadlines.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the configuration, management, and optimisation of Active Directory and Group Policy (including complex group nesting, privileged access, and automation).
- Supporting hybrid Exchange environments (on-prem and online) including mail flow, transport rules, shared mailboxes, and migrations.
- Administering Microsoft 365 and Azure, including PowerShell scripting, licensing, security and compliance settings, conditional access, and automation of bulk tasks.
- Managing Intune and SCCM for endpoint onboarding, policy deployment, and software packaging.
- Overseeing server patching processes and infrastructure monitoring, including WSUS/AUM configuration and third-party update scheduling.
- Supporting high-priority incident resolution, root cause analysis, and the documentation of best practices and knowledge articles.
- Driving continual service improvement and supporting major infrastructure and cloud transformation projects.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll be a hands-on systems professional with a background in managing enterprise environments and mentoring technical teams. Specifically, we’re looking for:
- Ideally a minimum of 7 years\’ experience in systems administration or infrastructure engineering.
- Strong knowledge across Active Directory, Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Exchange Hybrid, Azure, PowerShell scripting, and endpoint management tools like Intune and SCCM.
- Experience supporting high-availability environments, with a focus on security, resilience, and user experience.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to automation and process improvement.
- Previous experience leading or coaching junior team members.
- Professional certifications in Microsoft technologies or cloud platforms (highly desirable).
Why This Role?
- Salary up to ÂŁ56,000
- Hybrid & Flexible Working, designed to fit around your life, not the other way around.
- Supportive Team Culture, you’ll be joining a team that works together, not in silos.
- Strong Benefits Package, generous holiday allowance, excellent pension, personal development, and wellbeing initiatives.
- Purpose-Led Organisation, be part of something meaningful with impact beyond just IT.
