Job Description:
We’re looking for an experienced Planning & Resource Manager to join our Transformation PMO team at Nucleus. This is a hands-on and high-impact role leading the planning and resource management across a major transformation programme. You will be instrumental in creating and embedding robust planning and resource principles and controls across a complex, fast-moving programme.
You’ll drive the delivery of clear, actionable reporting and management information (MI) that highlights progress, identifies risks, and supports strategic decision-making at every level of the organisation.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you’ll help the organisation deliver its strategic ambitions through best-in-class programme and resource planning. You’ll work collaboratively with the programme and workstreams, bringing structure, consistency, and insight to support successful outcomes.
As part of the PMO team, you’ll ensure timely, accurate governance, insight, and outcome reporting that drives decisions at programme level. This will include navigating conflicting priorities, challenging the quality of inputs, and helping shape a newly established planning and resource environment.
This is a varied and rewarding role with big scope to shape the future of planning at Nucleus. You’ll thrive working in a dynamic setting with the opportunity to make this role your own.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the integrated programme plan covering all workstreams.
- Ensure planning aligns with programme governance, business strategy, and regulatory expectations.
- Track milestones, dependencies, and critical path items.
- Continuously improve planning principles, frameworks, and associated tools.
- Act as a centre of excellence for planning support across projects, programmes, and workstreams.
Resource Management
- Own and manage the programme-wide resource and business wide SME plan.
- Identify and resolve resource conflicts and bottlenecks proactively.
Governance & Reporting
- Produce planning dashboards, resource forecasts, and performance reports for senior stakeholders.
- Support programme boards with insights on planning risks, workforce needs, and change impacts.
- Facilitate programme and workstream meetings and workshops.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage across workstreams to ensure alignment, surface key dependencies, and support SteerCo in prioritisation decisions.
- Influence senior leaders to prioritise and align resources where needed.
- Monitor impacts of change requests on resources and timelines.
- Highlight and escalate risks related to planning assumptions or resourcing constraints.
Tooling & Systems
- Implement and maintain resource and planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Clarity, Planview).
- Ensure accuracy of resource data, role profiles, and time allocations across the programme.
- Support and strengthen the PMO’s governance and ways of working.
A bit about you
Your friends might describe you as the ‘organised one’—detail-oriented, structured, and always two steps ahead. You combine your time management and analytical skills with a persuasive communication style that helps influence decisions, even when stakeholders have competing views.
You thrive in a fast-paced environment, juggling priorities while remaining calm, professional, and proactive. Comfortable operating independently, you’re also a great collaborator and enjoy working as part of a supportive team. You\’re confident interacting with C-level leaders and managing sensitive information discreetly.
At Nucleus, we place a high value on cultural contribution and the diversity of thought you bring to the table—often more so than ticking every technical box. That said, it would be great if you can demonstrate some of the following:
- Deep understanding of transformation delivery in regulated environments
- Expertise in programme planning, critical path management, and resource forecasting
- Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Proven ability to work under pressure in complex, fast-paced environments
- High level of proficiency with planning tools and MS Office (especially Excel, PowerPoint and Sharepoint)
- Analytical and data-driven approach to decision making
- Experience preparing high-quality reports for ExCo and Board-level audiences—able to distil complex information into clear, concise, and consumable insights
- Strong attention to detail across written, verbal, and visual communication—including facilitation and presentation
- Solid understanding of governance, controls, and auditable reporting mechanisms
- Experience mapping and reporting dependencies across a diverse and wide-ranging change agenda
- Extensive hands-on project and resource planning experience across complex programmes
- A positive, professional attitude with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
- A proactive approach to supporting the Transformation leadership team, securing buy-in, and building alignment across the organisation
