This leader will drive the vision and roadmap for some of Capital One’s most critical web products, delivering a reliable, best-in-class experience for the 100M+ unique customers that use our services every month, and creating an intuitive and efficient developer experience for the hundreds of web developers across Capital One that build features on our platforms.The ideal candidate will be a highly-motivated risk or process management professional with excellent process improvement and communication skills. The candidate will be detail-oriented and results focused, and will have a proven record of problem solving and collaborating with others.You will:Lead multiple agile teams and coach and mentor engineers through their career development and performanceWork with Product partners to develop the technology strategy, roadmap and vision for the platforms you own; and deliver application capabilitiesWork within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack development tools and technologiesLead complex vendor relationships and ensure well-managed integration of vendor platforms into our broader Capital One ecosystemDevelop and leverage trusted relationships across Architecture, Design, and other Technology leaders to ensure strategic alignmentBring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communitiesEncourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, , outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, andBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s DegreeAt least 7 years experience in software engineering or software developmentAt least 5 years experience in people managementAt least 5 years experience developing large-scale web applications in AngularQualifications:Master’s Degree10+ years of experience in software engineering or software development5+ years of experience in Agile practices5+ years of experience leading multiple teams and managers5+ years of experience building web platforms5+ years of experience building developer tooling and automation5+ years of experience working with design systems5+ years of experience with automated test tooling (e.g. Jest, Cypress, Playwright)5+ years of experience with observability tools (e.g. New Relic) and web performance optimization3+ years of experience working with MonoRepo web applications and associated tooling (e.g. Nx)2+ years of experience with public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position.The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.McLean, VA: $263,900 – $301,200 for Director, Software EngineeringRichmond, VA: $239,900 – $273,800 for Director, Software EngineeringCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
