Job Opportunity: SEMH Teaching Assistant Classroom-Based
Location: Longsight, Manchester
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Salary: GBP108 – GBP(phone number removed) per day (dependent on experience)

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a forward-thinking school in Hulme. This role is classroom-based, working closely with teaching staff to support students across EYFS- KS1 who require additional emotional and behavioural support to access learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
  • Assist in delivering tailored interventions and behaviour strategies
  • Foster positive relationships and promote emotional regulation
  • Support classroom routines and learning activities
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to student progress reviews

What Were Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or SEN
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A calm, empathetic, and consistent approach
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. TA Level 2/3, Youth Work, Psychology) desirable
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with vulnerable learners
