Role Description
As a hands-on Lead Development Engineer (Server Side) for the BestX product, the ideal candidate will be responsible for the implementation and delivery of new server-side components, microservices, web APIs, and enhancements to the BestX product.
The candidate should exhibit superior skills in modern Agile methodologies, cloud-based development, server-side programming, databases, and development practices.
Develop an understanding of Transaction Cost Analysis and key benchmarks required for MiFID and MiFIR compliance.
The role involves maintaining and enhancing the application, influencing technology decisions, taking ownership of tasks, and ensuring they are completed effectively.
Establish best practices, promote clean code and design patterns, and drive organizational change with passion.
Be a proponent of Test Driven Development, striving to shift left to facilitate effective CI/CD processes.
Core/Must Have Skills
- 15+ years of programming experience in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design, distributed systems, algorithms, and relational databases like PostgreSQL, Oracle, as well as experience with distributed cache and messaging systems.
- Extensive experience designing and building low-level APIs for high-volume, latency-sensitive applications, with knowledge of multi-threading, data structures, grid computing, and message-oriented middleware.
- Experience contributing to architecture and design, including design patterns, system reliability, and scalability.
- Hands-on experience working with AWS or other modern cloud infrastructure.
Good to Have Skills
- Knowledge or expertise in FX, Fixed Income, Equity, or Equity Derivatives products.
- Experience with KDB.
- Understanding of modern JavaScript build toolchains, including tools like node, npm, rush, yarn, webpack, babel, and Cypress.
