Business Development Manager

The Role: This Business Development Manager role is borne out of growth which will be the first of a number of new positions coming up within this business over the next five years, as such getting in at the front will only help your career to lift off! The Business Development Manager will have the opportunity to hunt for new clients across the entire UK as well as inheriting a small account base to get you going. This will be a field based sales position in which you will be selling a range of specialist industrial chemical products used for various applications such as surface preparation, cleaning, and lubrication amongst many others. The Business Development Manager\’s role is to open doors with brand new end user clients within industrial markets, specifically aerospace, defence, and rail – but also with a view to opening opportunities with automotive, process manufacturing, and automotive sectors.

The Business Development Manager will be working with shop-floor & engineering contacts all the way through a client\’s structure to ensure they involve the board and senior procurement contacts, therefore making this a consultative sales role which requires many different \’hats\’ to be worn in the process. The Business Development Manager will use a multi-channel business development approach inclusive of phone outreach, marketing campaigns, face to face visits, and utilising video meetings. There are no set KPI\’s in how this is achieved, giving this role complete autonomy to work in the way you want to in order to achieve results.

Not only will the Business Development Manager be targeting end users but also industrial distribution channels. Our client already deal with the likes of Hayley and Rubix, but the Business Development Manager can also increase this distribution portfolio if they so wish.

There will be overnight stays required as part of the role, a fair amount of travel if necessary, and the requirement to visit the office in Derbyshire at least once a week to build on the internal stakeholder relationships to ensure success in the role.

The Company: A well known and respected brand in the industry, backed by a larger business who are an Employee Owned Trust, this business has a 5-year plan to double in size by 2030 and grow their sales team to it\’s former glory from many years ago. Our client are a manufacturer of chemical products who have a thriving \’white label\’ business as well as two brilliant brands which formulate their offering. One of those brands is really looking to kick on with significant growth plans for their industrial offerings over the coming years – now is the time to become a part of that growth journey!

We are looking for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • An industrial led b2b sales background working for a distributor or manufacturer
  • Have an appreciation of SPIN and GAP selling techniques
  • A self-starter who isn\’t afraid of new business development and relationship building
  • Full & Clean Driving license
  • An ability to have multi-stakeholder relationships internally and externally
  • Happy with national travel and overnight stays where required
  • Comfortable working from office in Derbyshire at least once a week after training period

Salary: £30,000 – 35,000 Basic Salary DOE + £6k-9k OTE made up of performance related bonus & EOT bonus, £5,700p/a Car Allowance, Pension, Laptop, Mobile, 22 days holiday + stats (rises by 1 p/y to max 25).

Candidate Location: Commutable to Derby for some office days
