Job Details Grade: 9A Hourly Rate: £22.98 – 324.82 Salary: £41,950.13 – £45,308.13 per annum Contract Duration: Temporary secondment cover until 31 August 2025 Role Purpose We are looking for a Temporary Social Worker/Care Manager who is keen to work within an Adult Social Work and Practice Team which is made up of a Team Leader, Assistant Team Leader, Social Worker’s, Nurse’s, Paraprofessional’s, Occupational Therapist’s, an Occupational Therapy Assistant and Council Officer’s. We also have strong administrative support which positively contributes to the management of our workload. The successful candidate will work in partnership with people who experience physical disability, mental illness, intellectual disability, and any other related diagnosis that may impact on their activities of daily living. As part of this role, you will be responsible for the case management of your allocated work and for contributing to the completion of Adult Support and Protection investigations, until full training has been completed where you will then act as a Council Officer. In this role we have a strong team approach and believe firmly in partnership working with our citizens, their support network, and all partner agencies. You will have a varied caseload and may take part in a duty rota, where required. The local authority is going through an exciting digital transformation, and they recognise the need to streamline our administrative duties to help create a more modern approach to recording and assessment. Therefore, all staff are provided with a smartphone, iPad and laptop to support this innovative approach to practice. Scottish Borders Council strongly promote a flexible working approach with a balance between working from home and the office, which is based in Hawick. We also have access to Poolcars that are managed by our fleet management team. We offer regular individual and group supervision sessions to ensure you have the opportunity for regular discussion and reflection with your line manager and colleagues. Essential Degree in Social Work or equivalent studies. Experienced applicants will be considered, where there is evidence, and agreement to complete relevant qualification within 2 years from appointment. A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post. * If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability.
