Job Description SummaryThe Intellectual Property (IP) Engineer for Wind Turbine Electrical Systems will find and act on new patent literature to enable freedom to practice, support new developments of the electrical components and systems and promotes new inventions.Job DescriptionJob DescriptionAs IP Engineer for Wind Turbine Electrical Systems, you will monitor the new published patent literature in your field of technology. Together with the experts in the engineering teams and with business’ IP Counsel you will influence the design of the most up to date technology to ensure freedom to practice. Your focus on IP, commitment to improvements and enthusiasm to new technology will inspire others to create new valuable inventions for the shaping of a world-class patent portfolio on wind turbines. With increasing understanding of the patents in the field of wind turbine electrical systems and components, your assessment will be key to the internal development activities. Your expertise will be essential to the strategies to further improve the value of the patent portfolio and related license opportunities.Essential ResponsibilitiesAfter a tailored introductory training phase, you will become the primary contact person for engineering, management and IP counsel concerning various IP topics, primarily patents and inventions, related to Wind Turbine Electrical SystemsHost of Sub-System Patent Evaluation Board to assess new disclosed inventions and provide filing recommendationsPerform IP clearance programs on assigned technical developments (NPI / NTI / DTO / RCA) and ensure freedom to operate, in close cooperation with a global team and IP counselMonitor industries’ patent applications with focus on Wind Turbine technology, especially on Wind Turbine Electrical Systems and Components.Classify and distribute the relevant publications to engineering teams, track patents of potential concern and elaborate appropriate strategies.Use patent search tools and databases, like DerwentInnovation, USPTO PAIR, Espacenet, Anaqua, IPRally, etcQualifications/ RequirementsMasters\’ degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or equivalentWork experience in an engineering or IP organization, with electrical systems or components, electronics, energy engineering, preferably related to wind turbinesBasic knowledge of patent law, how to read, understand, search for and identify relevant patentsAbility to work successful in a cross-functional and global environmentConscientious and organized work style, motivating and tactfulAffinity to linguistic explanation of technical matters.
