Overall Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Commercial Manager the Quantity Surveyor will manage the commercial aspects of multi‑utility projects, ensuring they are completed within budget, on time, and according to contract terms. This involves cost estimation, budget control, contract administration, and managing relationships with clients and contractors. You will also ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
What you will be doing:
- Production of weekly and monthly cost / value reconciliations
- Play a key role bridging the gap between operations and clients to agree client variations and changes to scope. Providing variation justifications and agreeing these with clients in a timely manner.
- Liaising with various departments including design and operations to report and manage commercial performance of schemes in your region
- Attend monthly operational meetings to discuss regional performance of schemes, taking accountability for performance to interrogate performance and ensure appropriate actions in place to resolve any underperformance
- Preparing client valuations and having the ability to manage client relationships/disputes
- Management of client debt, whilst establishing strong relationships with clients
- Preparing final accounts for both clients and sub‑contractors
What we ask from you:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the Utility Construction or Contracting sector.
- Management and production of cost value reconciliation
- Experience working directly with clients
- Building internal and external relationships
- Proficient in use of Excel spreadsheets and document management packages
- Excellent communication skills
- Familiar with commercial contracts terms
- Previous experience dealing with client variations/changes of scope and getting these agreed with clients
- Full UK Driving Licence
