Location: Home-based with travel across sites in Taunton, Devon, Bournemouth, and Southampton Salary: £40,000–£50,000 pro rata (depending on experience) + Company Car Hours: 3 days per week (flexible days) Travel: Site visits required across the South West; occasional visits (approx. 4 times/year) to Head Office in Essex About the Company We are a growing independent forecourt retailer with multiple petrol station sites across the South West of England. With over 60 employees and a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and employee wellbeing, we are looking for an experienced and proactive Compliance Manager to help support and embed these values across our business. The Role This newly created role is ideal for a self-motivated and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment. The Compliance Manager will take ownership of all compliance-related activity across the business, with a strong focus on Health & Safety, employee wellbeing, training, and legal compliance. Key Responsibilities * Conduct regular site visits to ensure compliance with company standards and legal requirements * Perform site audits, risk assessments, and safety inspections using established checklists * Set up and maintain accurate on-site files and compliance documentation * Lead the creation, maintenance, and oversight of training records for all staff * Coordinate external training sessions and ensure employees receive required certifications and follow-ups * Develop and implement wellbeing risk assessments and initiatives for all employees * Ensure the business remains compliant with relevant licenses and regulatory obligations * Maintain clear, up-to-date records of all compliance and training activities * Work closely with leadership to prioritise Health & Safety and staff wellbeing * Attend quarterly meetings at the head office in Essex About You * Proven experience in a compliance, health & safety, or operations role within a retail environment * Experience within fuel or forecourt settings is a bonus, but not essential * Strong understanding of H&S regulations, training compliance, and risk management * Highly organised with strong attention to detail and documentation skills * Comfortable working independently and managing your own schedule * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across regional sites What’s On Offer * Competitive pro rata salary (£40,000–£50,000 DOE) * Company car * Flexible part-time working (3 days per week) * Home-based working with regional travel * Opportunity to shape and own compliance processes across a growing independent business How to Apply If you’re an experienced compliance or H&S professional looking for a flexible part-time opportunity with real impact, we’d love to hear from you
