Overview

Director of Sport role at Stamford School. The position leads a large team of coaches and PE teachers to develop and deliver a coordinated sport programme in alignment with the Head of Physical Education.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of 12 full-time specialist PE teachers, 7 full-time professional sports coaches, and visiting coaches to deliver a rich, coordinated sport programme.
  • Lead the games programme and develop pathways to performance sport and health-focused initiatives across the Stamford School community.
  • Establish and maintain meaningful relationships with Governing bodies, local communities and global educational organisations; develop networks to benefit Stamford and explore revenue streams via sport.
  • Exercise sound budgetary control and demonstrate an agile, entrepreneurial approach.
  • Support fundraising efforts in conjunction with Stamford School\’s scholarships and bursaries portfolio.

Qualifications

  • A good honours degree in a related subject and postgraduate certificate in education (QTS).
  • Experience of teaching or working with GCSE and Sixth Form students.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and empower students; effective oral and written communication with staff, students, parents and the wider community.
  • Proficiency in IT and use of new technologies; ability to build and maintain relationships with staff, students and parents.
  • Emotional intelligence, empathy, safeguarding commitment, and a growth mindset.
  • Readiness to further professional development through INSET.
  • Experience working in or with primary/preparatory school settings is noted as relevant experience.
