The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for you to join a successful and expanding business building the UK\’s fibre-optic infrastructure. Netomnia is one of the fastest growing alt-net business\’ in the country and is bringing fibre straight to residential and business properties at a staggering pace.
As the SHEQ Advisor, you will hold a key position at group level within our substantial group, providing specialist Safety, Health, Environment and Quality advice and support across Netomnia, Brsk ISP, and YouFibre operations. This important role will involve supporting both employee and contractor safety compliance, environmental management, and quality assurance processes. You will work closely with operational teams to ensure all SHEQ standards are maintained and continuously improved across all business units in the group.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing specialist SHEQ advice and support across all group companies including Netomnia, Brsk ISP, and YouFibre operations
- Supporting the implementation of SHEQ management systems and policies at operational level
- Conducting SHEQ inspections, audits, and assessments of both employee and contractor activities
- Assisting with incident investigations and implementing corrective actions
- Supporting the delivery of SHEQ training programmes for employees and contractors
- Monitoring compliance with SHEQ legislation, regulations, and company standards
- Assisting with risk assessments and method statement reviews
- Supporting environmental management initiatives and waste management processes
- Helping to maintain ISO45001, ISO14001, and quality management system standards
- Collecting and analysing SHEQ performance data and metrics
- Supporting contractor SHEQ compliance and prequalification processes
- Assisting with the preparation of SHEQ reports and documentation
- Providing on-site SHEQ support during construction and operational activities
- Supporting emergency response and business continuity planning
- Helping to develop and update SHEQ procedures and work instructions
- Liaising with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders as required
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across all SHEQ disciplines
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 3 years\’ experience in a SHEQ advisory role
- Knowledge of UK health and safety, environmental, and quality legislation
- Experience supporting both employee and contractor SHEQ compliance
- Understanding of ISO45001, ISO14001, and quality management systems
- Experience in telecommunications, utilities, or construction industries preferred
- Strong knowledge of risk assessment and method statement processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with SHEQ audit and inspection processes
- Full UK Driving Licence
- IT proficiency, particularly in SHEQ management systems
- Ability to influence and advise at all levels of the organisation
- Experience with incident investigation techniques
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and waste management regulations
- Understanding of Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations
- Ability to work effectively across multiple business units within a group structure
