Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Lisburn
Contract Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday (7.5 hours/day)

Join a dynamic engineering team and play a key role in the design and development of cutting-edge HVDC power electronics systems. We’re seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer who thrives in innovation, precision, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical design of power electronic converter modules and supporting structures for HVDC systems

Develop 3D CAD models and component/assembly documentation using Creo (v2 or newer) and Windchill PDMlink (v4+)

Specify design materials, including advanced composites
-
Conduct and review FEA (mechanical, thermal, seismic) and perform engineering calculations

Collaborate with suppliers and internal engineering teams
-
Write technical specifications and approve design documentation

Support installation and commissioning activities as needed
Required Skills & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

Proven track record in industrial product mechanical design

Deep understanding of material properties and mechanical behavior

Experience with Creo and Windchill PDMlink

Ability to lead, guide, and motivate multidisciplinary teams

Strong documentation skills and ability to work independently and in teams
Desirable/Advantageous Experience:

Mechanical design of high-voltage electrical equipment (e.g., transformers, generators, switchgear)

Power electronic converter design (e.g., motor drives)

Finite Element Analysis using Pro-Mechanica or ANSYS
-
Experience in heat transfer, structural, or seismic analysis
