Role Purpose
The Duty Manager (Cleaning Operations) is responsible for overseeing all cleaning activities across the entire Edinburgh Airport campus. This role ensures that the airport maintains the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation to support passenger satisfaction, operational efficiency, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day cleaning operations across terminals, offices, car parks, and external areas.
- Supervise cleaning staff, allocate duties, monitor performance, and provide ongoing training and support.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleaning standards meet contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all cleaning activities adhere to airport safety protocols, COSHH regulations, and risk assessments.
- Oversee cleaning equipment, materials, and stock levels, ensuring efficient use and timely replenishment.
- Incident Response: Act as the first point of contact for cleaning-related emergencies, including spillages, biohazards, and adverse weather impacts.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Work closely with airport operations, security, and external contractors to coordinate cleaning schedules and resolve issues.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, staff attendance, and incident reports for management review.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance cleaning processes, introduce new technologies, and improve efficiency.

- Experience: Previous supervisory or management experience in cleaning, facilities, or airport operations.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage large teams.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with health & safety regulations, COSHH, and airport operational standards.
- Attributes: Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
