Job Purpose:

The Compliance and File Checker will be responsible for ensuring that all client files and financial advice given by the firm adhere to regulatory requirements and internal policies. You will conduct thorough compliance checks, support advisers in maintaining high standards, and mitigate regulatory risks within the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed reviews of client files to ensure suitability, completeness, and compliance with Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulations.

  • Review acquired client portfolios to ensure alignment with compliance standards and business objectives.

  • Identify and escalate any compliance breaches or risks to senior management.

  • Provide feedback and guidance to financial advisers to help maintain compliance standards.

  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date compliance policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Monitor changes in financial regulations and ensure internal processes remain aligned.

  • Assist in preparing regulatory reports and documentation as required.

  • Support in internal audits and external regulatory reviews.

  • Maintain accurate records of compliance checks and findings.

  • Assist with training and development programs for advisers and support staff on compliance matters if required.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Experience in a compliance or file-checking role within an IFA firm.

  • Strong knowledge of FCA regulations, including Conduct of Business (COBS) rules.

  • Understanding of financial products, including pensions, investments, and protection.

  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.

  • Proficiency in compliance software and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Hold level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning
