Based in Dundee, Highland Game Ltd is a wild game processor producing venison cuts and venison meat preparations to major retailers, the food service and wholesale markets.

We are looking for a Technical and Procurement Manager to join the team. The role is to procure wild deer throughout the UK, ensuring they are of a suitable standard for food production.

Key to delivering is building strong supplier relationships and working with our transport partners to ensure timely uplift and delivery into the Dundee Production Facilities.

This is an interesting and varied role that would suit someone who has a knowledge of the deer industry in Scotland or an agricultural background with experience and training in the technical requirements of food safety and auditing of those requirements.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Be responsible for the procurement of wild deer supplies for venison production and maintain existing contracts and supplier relationships ranging from very sizable organisations to individual hunters.
  2. Be responsible for supplier approval ensuring that the initial company requirements are met and maintained thereafter and can be audited satisfactorily to the BRCGS standard.
  3. Collate the numbers of deer over both Scotland and England and deliver this information in an effective manner to our transport partner. Oversee the collection and delivery of those deer to ensure the time frame meets supplier requirements whilst ensuring intake for processing at the factory is manageable.
  4. Have a HACCP qualification as they will be a member of the HACCP team.
  5. Be able to prepare and submit periodic reports to Directors.
  6. Have strong negotiation, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

The role is based in the Dundee office. In high season, the successful candidate would need to be available on call with some evening and weekend input likely. The ability to travel with overnight stays would also be expected and in return an attractive salary and benefits, commensurate with qualification and experience will be offered.
