Gifford and Partners have been appointed to help recruit an exciting and varied 6 month contract for a Purchase Ledger individual. Sitting amongst an experienced finance team and in a business that has experienced much growth and scaled quickly across multiple product lines. It operates in a tangibly interesting field, making this a fast-paced, detail-focused and commercially important role within the finance team.

A great opportunity for someone with existing Purchase Ledger or transactional finance experience to get stuck into a busy ledger, supporting a lean finance team through a key period of growth and system/process improvement. You\’ll be part of a positive, professional culture where your contribution will have real impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing high volumes of purchase invoices accurately and in a timely manner
  • Matching, batching and coding supplier invoices
  • Ensuring appropriate approvals and correct GL coding prior to posting
  • Supporting with supplier statement reconciliations and resolving any discrepancies
  • Monitoring the accounts payable inbox and dealing with queries from suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Assisting with the preparation of supplier payment runs, including BACs processing
  • Collaborating with stock, buying and logistics teams
  • Supporting month-end close activities, including accruals and aged creditors reporting
  • Contributing to process improvements in a rapidly scaling, evolving finance function

Experience and what we are looking for:

  • You\’ll have experience working in a Purchase Ledger or wider transactional finance role, ideally within a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Comfortable managing large invoice volumes with accuracy and efficiency
  • Confident in building relationships across the business, particularly with non-finance colleagues in stock or supply chain
  • Strong attention to detail and an organised approach – particularly important in a low-margin business
  • You\’ll enjoy being hands-on and working in a team that\’s focused, friendly and delivery-driven
