Our client, a specialist in secure government and defence communications, is seeking a Technical Service Manager to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of high-priority UK Government support cases, ensuring service excellence across satellite communications and secure infrastructure projects.
The role is ideal for a tenacious and technically proficient individual with a strong background in defence communications, ideally with Royal Navy or MoD experience, and the ability to operate with autonomy and authority.
Responsibilities:
Manage all UK Government support cases across Commercial Satellite Communication Services (CSCS4)
Liaise closely with MOD System Engineering and Project Teams to coordinate resolutions
Lead internal multi-disciplinary resolver groups and brief senior management on support case status
Oversee logistical and technical support planning for field service visits
Manage commercial arrangements tied to support activity, including external MOD liaison
Provide technical input and guidance to project and field engineering teams
Create and maintain support documentation and improvement plans
Track support trends and identify systemic issues or improvement areas
Contribute to obsolescence and support-related minor project management
Deliver training to first and second line teams and assist in onboarding of new engineers
Maintain oversight of CSCS4 spares procurement and stock levels
Act as a confident technical representative in high-pressure MOD or stakeholder environments
What we\’re looking for:
Technical background in electrical/electronic engineering, IT networking, or satellite communications
Experience within Royal Navy or wider MoD technical communication systems (COMSAT, MILSAT, MNE)
In-depth understanding of MOD networks across land and maritime domains
Confident and proactive communicator with excellent organisational and coordination skills
High customer focus with flexibility, resilience, and the ability to work under pressure
Skilled in using ticketing systems, diagnostic tools and standard office applications
Ability to achieve or currently hold DV Security Clearance
Understanding of ITIL framework is desirable
Willingness to travel and engage directly with stakeholders across various UK locations
