Financial Accountant

CMA Recruitment Group is delighted to be working with a well-established organisation in Portsmouth, Hampshire to recruit a Financial Accountant on a permanent basis. This is a pivotal role within the finance team, offering the opportunity to lead on financial reporting, drive process improvements, and support strategic decision-making across the business.\\n\\nWhat will the role of Financial Accountant involve?\\n\\nOwnership of monthly management accounts, including preparation of accurate trial balances and variance analysis.\\nProduction of detailed budget monitoring reports and support with forecasting.\\nOversight of balance sheet reconciliations, including accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets.\\nManagement of VAT compliance and credit control processes.\\nCoordination of internal and external audits, ensuring robust financial controls.\\nSupervision of banking activities and intercompany transactions.\\nLeading system and process improvements to enhance efficiency.\\nActing as a key point of contact for senior stakeholders and deputising for the Head of Finance when required.\\n\\nSuitable candidate for the Financial Accountant role:\\n\\nQualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or finalist with strong technical knowledge.\\nProven experience in a similar role, ideally within a complex or multi-entity environment.\\nAdvanced Excel and systems skills; experience with ERP systems is advantageous.\\nExcellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across the business.\\nHighly organised, proactive, and confident in managing deadlines.\\n\\nWhat’s on offer for the role of Financial Accountant?\\n\\nCompetitive salary and benefits package.\\nFlexible working arrangements and a supportive team culture.\\nOpportunity to influence key financial processes and contribute to strategic projects.\\n\\nCMA Recruitment Group is acting as a recruitment agency in relation to this role.
