Organisation Information:Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O\’Rourke, two of Europe\’s most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £2.8 billion.Bylor are responsible for the Design & Build (D&B) including fit out and handover of the HBX Operations Service Centre (OSC) within Hinkley Point C. The building is a mixed use warehouse/office/laboratory/restaurant and office building which connects to both Unit 1& 2 Turbine Halls via sky bridges.Purpose of the role:The Section Manager will work directly with the construction manager and ensure that the project is built to the right quality, to the highest standards of safety and in line with the agreed schedule. The Section Manager will be responsible for a floor/zone within the HBX and report to the construction manager. The role will interface with multiple Tier 2 and direct labour so strong communication and organisational skills are required.Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:Sub-contract managementManaging daily the sub-contractors on a floor/zone basisMonitor labour and material resource levels for each packageDaily diary of progress and notable actionsContribute to the overall logistic plan of the site for your specific packagesChair and assist package interface meeting in both design and construction spaceResponsible for ensuring works meet the correct quality benchmarks and specification including the use of electronic record systems (FV/Snagmaster or similar)Design input- ensure design is buildable and coordinate with design team in timely manner to ensure works comply with the clients specificationReview and input into SHEQ documentation inclusive of RAMS/ITPs/QA etcAssist with LTQRs and handover of area/rooms/levels in line with procedures and schedulesAssist with overall logistics and plans to facilitate the worksEssential skills & knowledge:Technical Skills:Buildings experience of 1-5 years + – specific to internal/fit out trades – understands the interfaces and complexities of a building projectMethodical thinker and action takerConstruction management or civil engineering degreeStrong organisational and time management skills – candidate will be responsible for multiple packagesBIM – 2D and 3D at basic-intermediate level – additional training will be provided. Use of NAVISworks is desirableUnderstand and create programmes/schedules of workInterpersonal Skills:A strong communicator with the ability to work within a team environmentRespects other team members across all functions and has a one team approach.Presents a professional image and promotes the values of the projectDemonstrates commitment to work to processesGood problem solverSelf-motivatedEducation & Qualifications:Must hold a degree in Building/Construction management or Civil engineering with relevant building experienceIOSH/SMSTS or equivalent safety accreditationAdditional Information:All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O\’Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance.
