Title of Post: Senior ICT Support Officer

Reports to: IT Manager

Main Duties

The post holder will support the IT manager with ongoing support and maintenance of all IT infrastructure and ensure the security and integrity of IT systems by implementing and enforcing best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  1. To oversee the management and implementation of Operating systems, Applications and Software updates.
  2. To carry out all duties associated with the installing, configuring, managing and trouble-shooting the IT Hardware estate (Desktops/Laptops/MFDs/Scanners/Servers/Communication Devices).
  3. To ensure the installation, configuration and management of the server estate across all networks.
  4. To provide account management across the Offices Line of Business applications and Networks.
  5. To contribute to the implementation requirements on all ICT security issues incorporating, creation and management of NW and Endpoint security applications and devices and performing Protective monitoring of all systems.
  6. To create and contribute to the preparation of IT platform and RMAD security reviews to advise Senior Management regards applicability of usage.
  7. To assist and organise IT Health Checks and implementation of recommendations from such checks.
  8. To lead and contribute to the procurement of IT hardware, software and line of Business applications incorporating security reviews.
  9. To contribute to the development IT Policies and Procedures.
  10. To ensure the delivery of an IT Helpdesk service to staff.
  11. To communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  12. To participate as an active member in project teams and working groups as and when required, representing IT.
  13. To stay informed about emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  14. To ensure compliance with Section 75 duties of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 by having due regard to the need to promote equality of opportunity
  15. To have responsibility for all records held, created or used as part of the business, including corporate and administrative records whether paper-based or electronic and also including emails, in line with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the Law Enforcement Directive as well as the Data Protection Act 2018.
  16. Any other relevant duties appropriate to the grade as may be required including the participation in the interchange of duties within the Directorate.

Essential Criteria

  • (i) At least a level 4 qualification in Computing, Software Engineering or other discipline relevant to Information Systems and Information Technology*.

AND

(ii) 2 years experience of IT delivery and service improvements for the benefit of an organisation(s). (Taking into account business objectives, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing Information Technology led interventions to deliver business benefits).

* (only those courses where a computing content of 50% or more can be demonstrated to the satisfaction of the panel will be considered relevant).

OR

In the absence of a level 4 qualification as outlined above, at least 4 years experience of IT delivery and service improvements for the benefit of an organisation(s). (Taking into account business objectives, identifying opportunities for improvements and implementing Information Technology led interventions to deliver business benefits).

2 years demonstrable experience in at least three of the following areas:

  • Configuration and management of Corporate ICT system security products such as Firewalls, Anti-Virus products, endpoint protection applications and software patch management.
  • Installation, configuration and management of Windows endpoint devices across a Corporate IT estate.
  • Installation, configuration and management of Windows based servers incorporating Active Directory and group policy administration.
  • Installation, configuration and management of line of business and Microsoft Office/MS 365 applications across a Corporate IT estate.
  • Implementing Information Technology (IT) services or projects that have led to improvements in organisational services and benefits.
  • Interpreting and communicating technical issues to senior management, to influence key decisions.

Desirable Criteria

  1. Working knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure applications / software e.g. Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft SQL etc.
  2. Working knowledge of organisational backup and recovery procedures and applications.
