We are looking for an experienced journalist to cover defense and security around the globe for our international and U.S. readers.
Working remotely for our UK bureau, the role of international security correspondent is primarily a desk reporting role, but you will be required to travel at times for conferences and events.
With the reputation of the Epoch Times being grounded in our China reporting, in additional to a solid grasp of International affairs, the role requires a comprehensive understanding of Beijing’s involvement in the threat landscape facing the West.

The Epoch Times is an international outlet providing daily comprehensive news coverage along with in-depth coverage in keeping with our principles of \’truth and tradition’. It was established in America in 2000 by Chinese journalists resisting communist oppression and later expanded to 21 languages with bureaus around the world.
Key Responsibilities:
You will pitch, break, and cover compelling news and feature stories for our international and U.S. readership and subscribers.
- Pitch, and craft security and defense stories of international relevance.
- Develop and curate a diverse portfolio of mid-range and long-length articles.
- Build and draw on a wide-range of contacts in the sphere of defence and security.
- Collaborate with other reporters with other specialisms—such as U.S. foreign policy and defense—on dual-bylined stories.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Substantial professional experience as a full-time press reporter in print or online.
- A proven record of being able to produce well-written, accurate stories to deadline.
- A proven record of tracking down original stories and finding fresh angles.
- An NCTJ qualification or equivalent, or proven substantial experience as a senior reporter.
- A solid grasp of global current affairs.
- Substantial experience of reporting on security and defense stories.
- Above all, we seek journalists who genuinely align with our guiding principles of truth and tradition, and our core values.
