Technical Manager Castings. May suit a Metallurgist or Process Engineer looking for a step up. West Midlands (M5 corridor). £50,000 – £60,000. As a European organisation that has been established for over 40 years, my client has evolved into a technical leader within the castings industry; developing a first-class reputation for a high quality, technically challenging and high integrity service. They are a rapidly expanding organisation and with two Directors now having taken over ownership of the business, this is an exciting time to join them, as they embark on ambitious growth plans, whilst creating plenty of opportunities for future progression for their talented workforce. Working closely with the Senior Leadership team, you will play a key role in shaping the continual progression and development of the organisation, whilst maintaining processes and ownership of the technical programme. The key responsibilities for your new role as Technical Manager are as follows: Minimising internal and external scrap. Supporting the quality department, maintaining quality control systems. Supporting projects to improve yield of cast parts and increase margins. Leading root cause analysis investigations and implementing corrective and preventative actions. Coordinating metrology, 3D scanning and virtual assemblies to support growth of individuals within the pattern shop. Ensuring all testing processes and methods meet customer requirements. Adopting and maintaining principal of standardisation in all processes. Adopting principals of continuous development of processes to optimise quality and productivity. Optimising process control tools to enhance quality, reduce lead time, tooling and manufacturing costs. Managing effectiveness of subordinates and team members. Developing and maintaining right first time culture. In an ideal world, my client would like to find a current Technical Manager, Process Engineer or Metallurgist with both iron manufacturing expertise and sand castings experience. Alternatively, they may also be open to considering people who have worked with other materials such as steel or aluminium and looking to broaden their expertise. Regardless of previous expertise, you will have a strong technical aptitude, eye for detail and be comfortable working in a fast-moving manufacturing environment. In return, my client is offering an excellent salary of £50,000 – £60,000, dependent on experience, with further opportunities for training and progression readily available for those who want it.
